Modern Caribbean Cuisine
When deciding what to call this concept, when I thought about hospitality, warmth and joy. The first thing that came to mind was my Grandmothers kitchen table; I have so many childhood memories centered around that table. Spending time with loved ones, laughing, telling stories and of course eating. I wanted to encapsulate that in the experiences I create for our guests; the warm embrace when we arrived to visit, the ridiculous amounts of ice cream we had no choice but to eat or the numerous toppings she would pull from the cupboard. I could think of no better cornerstone. The name itself well that’s because along the back of her home was a buttercup bush, I remember playing there quite a lot as a kid, on the swings or running around with my cousins; it just fit. It was how I tied this experience to those memories. That’s how we became Buttercup.
