  • Justin Gomes

    Justin, a Trinidad native, brings to you Buttercup Hospitality; a modern Caribbean cuisine pop-up focused on the flavors of his childhood and the hospitality found around his Grandmother's kitchen table; Buttercup is named for the Buttercup hedge at the back of her home and meant to anchor everything we do in that emotion.

    Justin immigrated to Chicago at nineteen to pursue his dream; attending Le Cordon Bleu Chicago where he earned an A.S Degree in Culinary Arts. Chicago has gone on to become his second home, setting down strong roots with his previous roles including a formative experience at Pump Room rising to sous chef and then on to Alinea working in a variety of roles; Chef de cuisine of the Commons Club at the Virgin Hotel, Chef de cuisine at Londonhouse and Chef de cuisine at Venteux Chicago. Most recently as the Chef de cuisine at Travelle at the Langham Chicago, Justin developed a passion for Community, Culture and Philanthropy. Focused on creating an inclusive environment of growth and learning for his team, encouraging others to develop their style rooted in their own cultures and donating time to Meals on Wheels Chicago & the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
